Concrete Patching and Repair

CONCRETE PATCHING AND REPAIR

Concrete is an ideal choice for many residential, commercial and industrial paving projects, especially those that require resistance to high point loads or heavy equipment. Concrete is actually brittle by nature, although that is overcome through proper reinforcement while installing the concrete. Over time, however, even the most durable and properly reinforced concrete can sustain damage, such as:

  • Damage caused by tree roots
  • Settlement of concrete around a building in the years after construction has been completed
  • Corrosion and erosion (e.g., sea water exposure, improper rebar installation)
  • Damage caused by other work being done in that location
  • Deficiencies in the original work.

We perform all types of concrete patching and repair, and can often get the job done faster than it takes for the other guy to call you back.

The concrete repair process

As freshly poured concrete doesn’t have asphalt’s natural affinity for bonding with old material, the repair process is generally lengthier and more labour intensive than repairing asphalt pavement.

In a typical concrete repair, we’ll saw cut or chip out a damaged section, dowel into the surrounding concrete and re-pour and refinish that area with new concrete. A bonding agent is typically added to the concrete to help it bond with the old material and ensure the repair will stand the test of time. The old concrete is then crushed and recycled.

If you notice cracks or fissures in your concrete, it’s essential to get them looked at as soon as possible by a qualified concrete contractor. Ignoring the problem will only make it worse, and its repair more expensive. Other than call us, there is little you have to do to initiate a concrete repair project. Assuming you’ve already removed any vehicles and other equipment from the site, we can begin working on your concrete in whatever state it’s in.

Please keep in mind that new concrete takes at least 72 hours to cure, and can require up to a week.

Where to start your concrete repair or patching project

Start by contacting us to discuss your project and request an estimate.

Our estimator will visit your site to determine the scope of work required and provide an estimate for repairing your concrete. In some instances, a complete concrete replacement may be warranted and can actually cost less than a concrete repair job. If that’s the case, we’ll provide you with both estimates.

Once approved, work can often proceed in as little as two to three weeks. And we also provide emergency services on request.
